Early Life
Maya was born on November 9th, 1998 at 3 PM in Los Angeles, California. This is important to know because she's a Scorpio sun, Aries rising, AND a Leo moon and her shortcomings are not her fault, they were simply determined by the alignment of the stars.
That being said, Maya was extremely spoiled and rarely heard the word "No" until she was some poor kindergarten teacher's problem. And boy! Was she ever a problem!! Portiuncula Preparatory Wizardry School had had its fair share of Allendes pass through its halls, but dealing with them never got any easier. They tended to be either highly aggressive or highly emotional but in Maya's case, she was both! If Maya was bossy, her parents praised her for being assertive. If Maya was cutthroat, she was just ambitious.
Port Prep staff breathed a sigh of relief the day she decided to transfer schools. Beauxbatons had been her first choice, but she didn't speak more than a few words of French. So Hogwarts it was. It was European and so sophisticated. Or so she thought.
Usually, Hogwarts was only for kids living in the UK. Usually, kids didn't have parents that could just buy some villa on the coast of Cornwall because they asked for it. But Maya wasn't your usual kid and getting a letter to Hogwarts was no trouble. Her friends were envious— as they should be!! She was going to get a hot British boyfriend!!

Okay, so Hogwarts wasn’t what she pictured. There were British boys, sure, but their hotness was debatable. Maya was oblivious to Slytherin’s dark reputation when the hat sorted her after barely grazing a stray hair on top of her head. The common room fucking sucked (Who wanted to live in a GROSS DUNGEON?? With SKULLS??) but those asshole kids… yeah, she fit right in. She wasn’t Sacred 28, but that might have been to her benefit. She was an Allende; pureblood with none of the post-war baggage tied to her name. Shiny, fresh, and American. And she knew how to be just the right amount of mean and charming to where she had lackeys of her own in no time.
Her old friends back home were told about how stunning Hogwarts was and how the boys were just OBSESSED with her because she was hot and American. None of this was true, of course, but she’d rather die than admit that she might’ve made the wrong choice. And Hogwarts wasn’t bad-- it was better than Ilvermorny, probably. Even if it wasn’t the posh, sophisticated school she’d hoped for, Maya made the best of her time there. She founded Equestrian club! She became Head Girl! On paper, she was a dream student. (Behind the scenes was a different story, but… what staff didn’t know wouldn’t hurt them.)
POST-HOGWARTS
Well, that was fun. Maya moved into her family’s Cornwall villa after Hogwarts, but there was an acting role waiting for her back in LA. Courtesy of her dear father, of course. Maya Montaña, where she was an eighteen year old playing a fourteen year old who was an American transfer student to Hogwarts where nobody knows she’s actually a famous actress. It was a family sitcom. Real compelling stuff.
For the next ten years, Maya just sort of fucked around. Took some acting roles here and there. She was more of a socialite, famous for being famous, than an award-winning actress.
When her letter inviting her to Henhurst arrived, she laughed with glee. Finally something interesting to do. If she were a better person, she would've given her spot up to someone who could've used the opportunity for affordable housing in London. But she's not and has never been the better person. It was a chance to study how the common folked lived. A little bit of method acting for her next big role. (She'd been told that she was out of touch with how Real People lived but-- she'd show them!!) And if she hated it, she could just leave.
